AMSTERDAM

We do keep busy while we are at "home".  We were ready to stock up on food so went to the Saturday market.  Still fun!  We found  a lot of new red hats for Sharon.

Well, maybe this is not the one.

Of course if we had bought some of this on special, this hat may have been "looking good"!
Only in Amsterdam!

That afternoon I had to get to the bank so left Sharon at home to rest her foot.  There just happened to be a food fare on the streets where the bank is located.  It was so much fun and I had a few treats along the way.

This display kind of clued me in that something was going on

Look at all these good strawberries.

Making a little sushi!

Delicious looking desserts!

Lots of places to eat and just enjoy the weather.

     Lots of sales!

On Monday we attended the general meeting of the American Women's Club in Amsterdam.  I had contacted them when we first got here but found they only had a couple of coffees during the summer and we were gone during both of those events.  I explained that we were only go to be here for a few months but they welcomed us and didn't even make us pay the dues.    The meeting was held at the Andaz Hotel on the Princengracht.  A lovely boutique hotel.

Little doors.

                                                             Big chairs.

The path to the meeting area.

    I found my prince!

There was a great turnout!Lots of very interesting women.  All very friendly, all different ages.  Lots of fun to meet new people!

Our Speaker was Randy Berry, the American Counsul General here in Amsterdam.

A little room off the meeting area.

We didn't stay for lunch but did wander over to one of our favorite places for a little coffee and dessert after having lunch at a little restaurant called Goodies.
The Chocolaterie Pompadour on Huidenstraat.

The next day we went to a luncheon with the group.  There were 14 of us.  Sharon and I had walked by this restaurant a number of times since it's right down from us on Brouwersgracht.  It is a lovely restaurant called De Belhemal.  "Itexudes a roamantic early twentieth-century Parisian ambiance, featuring many authemtic art nouveau details".  The retaurant has won the renowned Michelin guides Bib Gourmet award annually since 2007.

It was lots of fun, nice people and good food!  what more can you ask for.

And just a friendly reminder.
Who is that handsome man?
